A Cisco Meraki Case Study
Priefert Manufacturing, a family-owned producer of rodeo, ranch and equine equipment with a 700,000 sq. ft. campus in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, needed seamless, reliable wireless coverage so forklifts could use tablets and barcode scanners to direct production. Working on a tight budget, Priefert’s Senior Network Engineer evaluated Linksys, Engenius, and Cisco Meraki and selected Cisco Meraki’s WLAN solution for its strong coverage, fast deployment, and centralized dashboard management.
Cisco Meraki deployed 21 dual‑radio indoor MR14 access points and 4 triple‑radio outdoor MR58 access points to provide 802.11n coverage across the campus. The Meraki rollout was plug‑and‑play via the Meraki dashboard, enabling forklifts to run Microsoft Dynamics AX on tablets and Windows Mobile barcode scanners, streamlining the ERP transition, improving operational visibility and monitoring from anywhere, and delivering campus‑wide wireless coverage that Priefert describes as “great coverage for our money.”
