A Cisco Meraki Case Study
Orange Sky Australia, a charity founded in 2014 to provide free laundry services to people experiencing homelessness, grew rapidly to more than 20 staff, 16 laundry vans, three shower vans and over 1,000 volunteers washing more than 6 tonnes of laundry a week. That scale exposed weaknesses in their home-grown network, slow internet in vans, and inadequate collaboration tools—so they turned to Cisco Meraki (with Cisco Spark collaboration) for enterprise-grade connectivity and communication.
Cisco Meraki implemented a tailored solution including routing, switching, Meraki wireless access points and dashboard, an enterprise firewall, IP video surveillance and public WiFi on vans, while Cisco Spark supplied video collaboration tools. The result was immediate speed and productivity gains in the office, reliable connectivity across 16 vans to capture shift reports and offer client WiFi, easier volunteer management via the Meraki dashboard, and better nationwide collaboration through Cisco Spark—supporting new initiatives like a volunteer portal and scaling Orange Sky’s operations without complaints from staff in the field.
