Optimizing transit for 1,000,000 commuters with Meraki

Brescia Mobilità, the public transit operator for Brescia, Italy serving about 1,000,000 commuters per day, faced an unsustainable network of siloed legacy systems across buses, rail, bike and car shares, parking and ticketing—compounded by unreliable connectivity and rising upkeep costs. Working with Cisco Meraki (using the Meraki dashboard, MV smart cameras, MT sensors/IoT and analytics), the team sought to replace fragmented vendor stacks and restore dependable, city‑wide visibility.

Cisco Meraki rebuilt connectivity with updated cabling and Wi‑Fi, then integrated Meraki MV cameras and MT sensors into a unified dashboard, enabling real‑time visibility across services. The result: dropped connections were practically eliminated, operational costs were lowered as silos were phased out, administrators gained actionable insights (crowd counts, HVAC/server room alerts, empty‑seat tracking) to avoid overcrowding and inform riders, and staff now spend less time fixing past problems and more on future improvements.
