Case Study: Socorro Independent School District achieves expanded learning opportunities with Cisco Meraki

A Cisco Meraki Case Study

Preview of the Socorro Independent School District Case Study

New AR access, APs, and switches increase learning opportunities

Socorro Independent School District, a 47-school K–12 district in El Paso serving 46,100+ students, needed a robust, flexible, and scalable wireless network to support a district-wide shift to 21st Century learning, one-to-one devices and the WIN Academy program. Aging access points and limited bandwidth were preventing consistent classroom connectivity, so the district issued an RFP and evaluated providers before selecting Cisco Meraki (Wireless LAN MR) alongside Cisco Catalyst switching to meet its requirements.

Cisco Meraki deployed a cloud-managed wireless solution and Cisco Catalyst switches across the district—ultimately installing over 3,400 Meraki MR access points and upgrading to a 10‑gigabit backbone—using E‑rate funding and partner support. The new Cisco Meraki network delivered broader, more reliable coverage, higher bandwidth and zero-touch provisioning, enabling a district-wide 1:1 program, expansion of the WIN Academy to 16 campuses, improved teacher/student engagement, higher attendance and reduced discipline incidents.
