A Cisco Meraki Case Study
Naturalis Biodiversity Center, a national museum and research institution in the Netherlands with about 250 staff and roughly 300,000 annual visitors, faced a growing lack of WiFi capacity as the number of wireless devices rose. The museum needed reliable, everywhere-on connectivity that could support staff, visiting academics and guests on any device, so it chose Cisco Meraki’s cloud-managed wireless access points and web-based dashboard for an easy-to-deploy, centrally managed solution.
Cisco Meraki deployed 150+ cloud-managed access points across the main museum and a satellite site, with 802.1X RADIUS integration for eduroam, separate SSIDs for staff and guests, and a branded splash page configured via the Meraki dashboard. The one-time central setup and plug-and-play APs brought WiFi live in days, delivered zero downtime, handled over 150 GB of weekly traffic and more than 2,000 unique wireless visitors per week, and improved IT efficiency through remote tools like packet capture and cable testing.
