A Cisco Meraki Case Study
The Museum of Contemporary Art in Antwerp (M HKA) needed a reliable, easy-to-manage wireless network to launch a new mobile app and improve visitor experience. Facing an ad hoc mix of poorly performing access points with weak coverage and no seamless roaming, IT Manager Kristof Michiels selected Cisco Meraki’s cloud-managed wireless (dual-radio Meraki APs and Meraki dashboard) for an affordable, centrally managed solution that would be simple to run while he was only on site part-time.
Using Cisco Meraki, M HKA deployed 15 dual-radio APs and configured two SSIDs (open guest and passworded staff), Layer 7 application firewall rules to block bandwidth-heavy apps, and SSID scheduling to turn off public WiFi after hours. The network was up in two days (three APs running within hours), visitors now use WiFi daily and staff run guided tours with streaming content on iPads, and the museum ordered 15 iPads—demonstrating fast deployment, clear staff adoption, and improved visitor engagement enabled by Cisco Meraki.
