A Cisco Meraki Case Study
Taft, Stettinius, and Hollister LLP was struggling with Wi‑Fi sprawl as attorneys adopted iPads and BYOD practices—an outgrown Cisco controller, dependence on an outside engineer, unknown users and rogue access points made the network unmanageable. To solve this, the firm chose Cisco Meraki’s cloud‑managed Wi‑Fi (Meraki Cloud Controller and MR series access points) to deliver secure, scalable, and easy-to-manage office‑wide wireless.
Cisco Meraki’s solution was piloted with 20 access points installed in days, then rolled out firmwide with 45 MR16 dual‑band APs deployed across remaining offices in about 12 days; the Meraki dashboard lets IT manage 60+ devices from one interface. The deployment lowered TCO by removing hardware controller limits, eliminated reliance on external engineering, enabled per‑client bandwidth caps, rogue AP monitoring, application blocking and traffic shaping, and delivered consistent, secure roaming—resulting in satisfied users and a far more manageable network.
