LexIcon Library - Customer Case Study

LexIcon Library, part of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council in Dublin, faced persistent poor Internet connectivity and an unwieldy IT setup soon after opening. Network devices were inadequate, management was split across three vendors, and architectural constraints required a discreet, standards-compliant solution. Network Manager Tom Mullin trialed a Cisco Meraki access point and chose Meraki for its centralized, remotely managed approach that would relieve the IT team’s burden.

Cisco Meraki deployed indoor and outdoor access points, a UTM security appliance with content filtering and AMP, VLANs and group policies, and customizable SSIDs and splash pages (including a library-card login) to control access. The quick, architect-approved installation eliminated connectivity complaints, enabled a 100-seat theatre to support hundreds of users, and let staff provision guest networks in seconds. Meraki Dashboard analytics now deliver measurable insights—user counts, dwell time, heat maps and daily trends—for data-driven planning, while licensing and firmware updates future-proof the network.
