A Cisco Meraki Case Study
Ashland University, a mid-sized private school with more than 6,000 students and 2,600+ campus residents, faced a major safety gap after an unidentifiable male gained access to an all‑girls dorm and existing cameras provided poor-quality, unreliable footage stored on clunky local servers. To improve coverage, recording reliability, and video access, Ashland selected Cisco Meraki and its MV security cameras.
Working with Cisco Meraki, Ashland deployed over 150 indoor and outdoor MV cameras across campus in a few months, moved video storage to the cameras (eliminating legacy servers), and enabled remote dashboard access, motion alerts, and fast time/location searches. The Meraki solution let security quickly identify vandals, monitor parking and events, reduce staff travel and maintenance time for two IT team members, and produced higher student safety ratings in a recent campus survey.
