Keeping branch locations secure and connected while reducing costs with SD-WAN

Vehicle Testing New Zealand (VTNZ), the nation’s largest vehicle inspection company with 1,200 employees across 150 locations, faced frequent branch outages and a lack of network visibility that interrupted trading and forced constant firefighting. To address these issues VTNZ engaged Cisco Meraki’s cloud-managed networking solution, initially deploying Meraki wireless access points and then expanding to switches, cameras, MX security/SD‑WAN appliances and a single Meraki dashboard.

Cisco Meraki implemented a full-stack, centrally managed network with site-to-site Auto VPN and template-based configurations, enabling rapid branch provisioning and diverse WAN links with 4G backup. The rollout delivered 20x more bandwidth to branches, replaced costly MPLS with broadband/fibre for a 20% annual WAN cost reduction, consolidated security on the MX appliance, and dramatically reduced branch outages and support calls.
