A Cisco Meraki Case Study

Increasing guest satisfaction across multiple properties with high-performance Wi-Fi

Boutique Hotel Collection — The Cliffs Resort, a 13‑property group with ~600 rooms in San Luis Obispo County, faced chronic guest WiFi complaints caused by mixed consumer‑grade wireless gear, no centralized management, and RF issues from thick concrete walls. IT lead Chris Biggers chose Cisco Meraki’s cloud‑managed MR access points (including MR30H wall‑plate APs) to address coverage, management, and visibility gaps across the portfolio.

Cisco Meraki was rolled out by a three‑person IT team who preconfigured and deployed 200 Meraki APs across 13 sites, using MR30H units to provide confined suite coverage plus four gigabit hardline ports. The Meraki dashboard, RF tools and location analytics — alongside later deployment of Meraki MX firewalls and Systems Manager — gave centralized control, improved security (AMP/IDS‑IPS), and cut troubleshooting time; The Cliffs Resort now enjoys robust guest WiFi, fewer complaints and improved guest satisfaction.
