Case Study: Fondazione Milano achieves seamless, secure, centrally managed Wi‑Fi across six Milan schools with Cisco Meraki

A Cisco Meraki Case Study

Preview of the Fondazione Milano Case Study

Improving Wi-Fi experience and network management for independent schools in Milan

Fondazione Milano, a group of four independent schools in Milan educating more than 2,500 students and over 400 staff across six campuses, faced a fragmented wireless estate made up of managed and unmanaged access points from several vendors. This created scalability and management challenges and left IT with no visibility into who or what was using the network. Fondazione Milano chose Cisco Meraki (Switching and Wireless LAN) for its cloud dashboard, plug‑and‑play deployment, and centralized management.

Cisco Meraki deployed cloud‑managed indoor and outdoor access points and switches, integrated the staff SSID with Active Directory, used RADIUS for student authentication, and applied built‑in stateful and identity‑based firewalls plus a branded splash page. The rollout allowed each school to be live within a day, delivered secure, reliable access with zero downtime, carried almost 10 TB of data per week and over 1,100 unique weekly users, and improved IT efficiency and coverage via Meraki’s monitoring, reporting and remote tools.
