A Cisco Meraki Case Study
New Castle County faced an aging, hard-to-manage network supporting 1,600+ government employees and more than 550,000 residents, with a five-person IT team stretched thin and tasked by county leadership to modernize infrastructure. After evaluating options, New Castle County chose Cisco Meraki, deploying cloud-managed wireless (MR), switching (MS), and Security & SD‑WAN (MX) appliances (along with Cisco Unified Communications phones) to bring the county’s network into the 21st century.
Cisco Meraki’s cloud dashboard, templates, and appliances enabled the IT team to rewire and deploy new wireless, switching, security, and phones across 25 sites in under 24 months, with seamless upgrades (including public safety) and stronger protections using SNORT and content filtering. The result was improved reliability and visibility, fewer support calls, more proactive troubleshooting, and greater mobility for field staff and police — all while freeing the team to pursue broader cloud migrations and other strategic projects.
