Case Study: Florida Coastal School of Law achieves zero-downtime 70-AP deployment and scalable cloud-managed wireless with Cisco Meraki

A Cisco Meraki Case Study

Preview of the Florida Coastal School of Law Case Study

How a law school deployed 70 APs in one day—with no downtime for users

Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Florida, faced a failing campus wireless setup that left the school without redundancy and at capacity as nearly 1,800 students increasingly used smartphones and laptops. After evaluating vendors, the school chose Cisco Meraki’s cloud‑managed Wireless LAN (MR14 indoor APs, MR58 outdoor APs and the Enterprise Cloud Controller) to deliver a secure, scalable, easy‑to‑manage solution that would eliminate on‑site controller headaches.

Cisco Meraki deployed 70 MR14 APs (plus two MR58s) over a single summer day—two teams completed the swap in under five hours with no downtime as APs auto‑appeared in the cloud controller (about 2–3 minutes per AP). The Meraki solution provided built‑in redundancy and 802.1X, supported the expected 400–800 concurrent users during peak weeks with virtually no complaints, and reduced help‑desk wireless issues.
