Case Study: CDK Global achieves rapid, cost‑effective managed Wi‑Fi deployments for automotive dealerships with Cisco Meraki

A Cisco Meraki Case Study

Preview of the CDK Global Case Study

Giving automotive retail businesses a competitive edge through managed Wi-Fi service

CDK Global, a leading provider of IT and digital marketing solutions to the automotive retail industry, needed a reliable managed Wi‑Fi offering for thousands of dealerships where in‑house IT resources were often limited and consumer‑grade solutions caused poor user experiences. To replace a limited controller‑based service and autonomous legacy APs, CDK turned to Cisco Meraki Wireless LAN and the Meraki dashboard to build a dealer‑focused managed Wi‑Fi service called GetWireless.

Using Cisco Meraki’s cloud‑managed, multi‑tenant dashboard and zero‑touch provisioning, CDK remotely configures and ships APs directly to sites, simplifies quoting with two SKUs, and provides dealer‑facing analytics and monitor‑only access. The result: deployments dropped from about one week to usually one day, thousands of Meraki devices are now live across hundreds of dealerships transferring over 20 TB of traffic per week, and CDK substantially reduced deployment costs and on‑site engineer visits.
