A Cisco Meraki Case Study
C&S Companies, a multi-site engineering, architecture and construction firm headquartered in Syracuse with 16 regional offices, needed to support BYOD and vendor devices without exposing the corporate LAN. With a small IT team and concerns about cost and management overhead from traditional WLANs, C&S selected Cisco Meraki’s cloud-managed Wireless LAN and full-stack networking (APs, MX security appliances, MS switches and Systems Manager) to provide secure, centrally managed wireless at scale.
Cisco Meraki rolled out cloud-provisioned APs, secure guest WiFi with built-in firewall, traffic shaping and content filtering, Systems Manager MDM, Auto VPN and MX/Z1 teleworker and MX60W job-trailer appliances. Devices auto-configured from the Meraki dashboard in minutes, enabling deployment to all regional sites for about the cost of one traditional office install; C&S gained centralized visibility and control, enforced guest segregation, per-user bandwidth limits (e.g., 1 Mbps), eliminated separate web-filter hardware, observed ~3 TB/week through switches, and achieved more reliable remote and field connectivity with lower TCO.
