A Cisco Meraki Case Study
Applebee’s wanted to offer guest Wi‑Fi across its restaurants to meet customer expectations and support marketing efforts like targeted splash pages, but its franchisees were struggling with inconsistent consumer-grade networks, limited visibility, and security/compliance concerns. Cisco Meraki’s wireless LAN and cloud-managed access points gave Apple American Group LLC a standardized way to deliver reliable guest Wi‑Fi nationwide while collecting usage insights and presenting click-through landing pages.
Cisco Meraki implemented plug-and-play Meraki APs managed through the cloud, with built-in firewall protection for PCI compliance, traffic shaping, and SSID controls to secure and manage guest access. The results included stable connectivity, centralized visibility, and cost savings by eliminating separate Internet connections for guest Wi‑Fi; Applebee’s also saw strong adoption, with over 8,000 distinct clients using the network each month and more than 80 GB of data transferred across the franchisee network.
