Case Study: Moreland School District achieves centralized iPad management and uninterrupted classroom time with Cisco Meraki Systems Manager

A Cisco Meraki Case Study

Endpoint management solutions and easy troubleshooting help keep classes in session

Moreland School District, serving about 4,800 students, faced an “iPad nightmare” managing 1,300 district iPads with 85 different Apple IDs, hundreds of locked devices, and decentralized app purchases that interrupted instruction. The district selected Cisco Meraki and deployed Meraki Systems Manager to bring iPad management into a single cloud dashboard alongside their existing Meraki wireless infrastructure.

Using Cisco Meraki’s Systems Manager, MSD consolidated Apple accounts and DEP enrollment, created reusable profiles for general, special education, and English learner groups, set geofencing to prevent device loss, and centralized app requests and deployment. The result: faster, zero‑touch provisioning and app updates (teachers’ requests can be deployed in as little as five minutes), fewer locked or missing devices, easier troubleshooting via integration with Meraki access points, and freed-up teacher time — enabling the district to manage 1,300 iPads more effectively and plan replacement of 800 aging iPad 2s.
