Easy-to-install camera system that's also keeping students safe and accountable

Fairborn City Schools, a rural K–12 district with limited resources, needed a modern, scalable camera solution to replace outdated, fragmented systems across its middle and high schools. After evaluating seven vendors, Director of IT Emily Geisel selected Cisco Meraki and its MV smart cameras to provide an easy-to-deploy, cloud-managed platform that would be accessible to school leaders, SROs, and local law enforcement.

Cisco Meraki deployed about 180 MV smart cameras (including MV32 360° units) across campus and enabled straightforward management via the Meraki dashboard. The system went live quickly, gave administrators controlled access to footage, and helped deter incidents while making investigations faster and more accurate — cutting time spent investigating negative behaviors by at least 50%. Cisco Meraki’s solution also produced concrete safety wins (for example, identifying a student who had been unconscious) and returned hours to staff who now focus more on instruction and less on piecing together incidents.
