Driving operational excellence with Wi-Fi 6

BBVA, a global financial services group with 126,000+ employees, wanted to replace wired connectivity with high-performance wireless across its Madrid corporate locations to improve operational agility and support high-density workspaces. To achieve this, BBVA selected Cisco Meraki’s Wireless LAN (MR) solution and deployed about 2,200 Meraki access points across 56 corporate properties in Spain, choosing Wi‑Fi 6 for its speed, coverage and energy-efficiency benefits.

Cisco Meraki delivered cloud-managed MR access points with built-in WIPS/WIDS, real-time visibility, analytics and centralized policy controls, eliminating the need for extra security hardware and reducing upfront costs. The rollout made BBVA the first Spanish bank to deploy Wi‑Fi 6, yielding faster browsing and lower latency, improved video conferencing and cloud application performance, reduced energy consumption to support sustainability targets, and measurable operational efficiencies across all 56 sites.
