Case Study: Saigon South International School achieves campus-wide reliable Wi‑Fi and centralized network management with Cisco Meraki

A Cisco Meraki Case Study

Preview of the Saigon South International School Case Study

Delivering a digital learning experience with advance Wi-Fi and network visibility

Saigon South International School (SSIS), a private school in Ho Chi Minh City with more than 1,050 students across a 6‑hectare campus, needed a single, centrally managed network to support heavy mobile-device use and to control bandwidth at the application level. Their existing multi‑vendor infrastructure and a firewall without Layer 7 traffic shaping made it hard to get a holistic view or manage per‑user/app bandwidth, so the ICT team chose Cisco Meraki—starting with the Meraki MX appliance—for cloud‑based centralized management and Layer 7 controls.

Cisco Meraki deployed a staged solution—an MX400 security appliance, 26 MS switches and 140+ MR indoor/outdoor access points—preconfigured in the Meraki cloud dashboard for plug‑and‑play installation. The Meraki platform delivered Layer 7 traffic shaping, Active Directory policy integration, multiple SSIDs, and remote cable diagnostics (identifying cables with as little as one‑tenth throughput), resulting in campus‑wide wireless coverage for 1,050+ students, faster troubleshooting, reduced IT overhead for the three‑person team, and improved learning flexibility across the campus.
