A Cisco Meraki Case Study
Grab, a rapidly expanding Southeast Asian technology company providing ride‑hailing and mobility services, struggled with consumer‑grade networking that caused connectivity failures and didn’t scale across its growing footprint. To address this, Grab evaluated and adopted Cisco Meraki’s cloud‑managed platform — initially deploying MR32 access points and MX100 security appliances (later adding MS220 switches, MR42/MR52 APs and MV21 cameras) and managing the estate via the Meraki dashboard.
Cisco Meraki’s cloud solution gave Grab centralized control and automation, enabling a lean IT model where simple on‑site setup by level‑1 technicians is followed by cloud push‑configurations from HQ. The Meraki deployment scaled to operate across more than 35 cities (98 MS switches and hundreds of MR APs and MX appliances across 6 countries), cut new‑site build time from over six months to about 24 hours, had an MX100 up in 10 minutes during trial, saved months and hundreds of thousands of dollars, and substantially improved wireless and security operations (including analytics, Layer‑7 traffic shaping and motion‑search video review).
