A Cisco Meraki Case Study
Community College of Denver (CCD), which serves about 8,000 students and 1,200 faculty across multiple campuses, faced a 13‑year‑old, hard‑to‑manage network, spotty Wi‑Fi, and little visibility with a two‑person IT team. CCD selected Cisco Meraki (using Meraki MR access points, MS switches, MX security appliances and the Meraki dashboard) to provide a more manageable, visible, and reliable campus network.
Cisco Meraki deployed 120 APs and 115 switches across two campuses in two months, integrated with Cisco ISE for seamless single‑SSID authentication, and added two MX security appliances with segmented networks and VoIP prioritization. The Meraki dashboard and troubleshooting tools let the small IT team quickly isolate issues (saving hours of work), schedule automatic firmware upgrades, and reduce wireless support tickets by more than 90%, while improving overall network security and uptime.
