A Cisco Meraki Case Study
North Hawaii Community Hospital, a privately funded full-service hospital in Kamuela, Hawaii, needed to replace aging Motorola wireless equipment to support medical devices and growing demand for guest internet while protecting sensitive patient data with limited IT staff. A CDW partner introduced Cisco Meraki’s HIPAA-compliant cloud-managed WiFi solution, which appealed because of its centralized, easy-to-use dashboard.
Cisco Meraki deployed high-performance wireless APs and a cloud-managed dashboard that NHCH’s lean IT team used to configure coverage and multiple SSIDs in just six weeks with minimal disruption. The Meraki solution improved network reliability, enabled greater mobility for nurses using Computers on Wheels, separated secure hospital traffic from guest access, and used an integrated Layer 7 firewall to block inappropriate content.
