Cash Converters - Customer Case Study

Cash Converters, a Perth‑based pawnbroking and retail franchise with over 700 stores in 21 countries, needed a secure, reliable, and always‑on network because all stores run an online point‑of‑sale system and are “100% dependent on the Internet.” To address this, they deployed a full Cisco Meraki stack — MX security appliances, MS switches, and MR wireless access points — and adopted Meraki’s VOIP and automatic failover features to protect critical store operations.

Cisco Meraki implemented automatic VPN failover on each MX (with 3G/4G USB modem support) and PoE‑enabled MS switches for IP phones, removing single points of failure and allowing traffic to continue over encrypted tunnels or cellular links if MPLS/ISP links fail. The result: virtually uninterrupted operations across stores (Duncalf reports uptime is “effectively 100%”), free inter‑site voice calls via VoIP, and resilient, centrally managed networking with strong vendor support from Cisco Meraki.
