Case Study: SAS International achieves a robust, reliable network and greater operational efficiency with Cisco Meraki

A Cisco Meraki Case Study

Preview of the SAS International Case Study

Building a robust and reliable network results in new efficiencies for manufacturer

SAS International, a leading British manufacturer of metal ceilings, faced an aging switch fabric and commercial‑grade wireless that left its factories with limited Wi‑Fi coverage, little visibility into network usage, and security constraints—compounded by metal ceilings and heavy machinery. Group IT Manager James Greene sought to modernize switching, wireless and mobile device management and adopted Cisco Meraki’s cloud‑managed portfolio (wireless APs including IP67‑rated outdoor units, switching and Enterprise Mobility Management) to improve coverage, visibility and manageability.

Cisco Meraki delivered a 3–4 week rollout of 802.11ac indoor and ruggedised IP67 APs, Meraki PoE/PoE+ switches with warm spare and Meraki EMM, all managed from a single pane‑of‑glass dashboard. The deployment added VLAN segmentation and multiple SSIDs, enabled rapid remote troubleshooting to identify cabling and bandwidth issues, eliminated DHCP problems, supported handheld scanners and machine retrofits, and allowed QoS for voice—resulting in improved reliability, faster fault resolution, happier users and a network ready to support upcoming voice projects and global expansion.
