Case Study: Woldingham School achieves unified, fast and secure campus network with Cisco Meraki

A Cisco Meraki Case Study

Preview of the Woldingham School Case Study

Benefitting from unified management of APs, switches, security, and MDM

Woldingham School, a prestigious English girls boarding school, faced an aging, multi-vendor network that couldn’t take advantage of high‑speed internet, provide cohesive management, or meet growing mobile and residential demands. To address this, Woldingham School turned to Cisco Meraki for a unified, cloud‑managed solution including MR wireless APs, MS switches, MX security/SD‑WAN appliances and Meraki MDM.

Cisco Meraki deployed 85 MR42 Wave 2 APs (with a further 50 in phase two), an MX400 security appliance, and new Layer 2/3 switching to fully leverage the school’s 10Gb connection, plus site‑to‑site VPN for remote buildings. The result: reliable connectivity for 350+ boarding students and staff (streaming and Skype without prior restrictions), minutes‑to‑configure SSIDs for guests and summer groups, Client VPN for remote staff access, centralized MDM for device management, and improved visibility and control — all delivered via the Cisco Meraki dashboard with automatic firmware updates and measurable speed and management gains.
