Arriva, one of Europe’s largest passenger transport providers and a major UK bus operator, faced persistent network performance issues from an MPLS‑centric estate that left sites with insufficient internet bandwidth — causing slow PC boot times and lengthy print jobs — and hampered migration to cloud services. To address this, Arriva selected Cisco SD‑WAN powered by Meraki to modernise connectivity, reduce costs and enable secure, encrypted cross‑site access to data centre and cloud applications.

Cisco Meraki implemented the solution at scale — deploying around a thousand Meraki devices with two SD‑WAN connections per site and using the Meraki dashboard for centralized visibility and management. The rollout delivered measurable improvements: flawless video calling and file sharing, simplified migration to Office365/SharePoint, centralized printer management, accelerated Windows 10 deployment, fewer on‑site changes during install, and reduced operational complexity and costs — all underpinning Arriva’s digitalisation strategy.
