A Cisco Meraki Case Study
American Baptist Homes of the West (ABHOW), a provider of senior housing with one headquarters, 10 living communities and four sales offices, needed to standardize its network stack, increase bandwidth and visibility, and reduce the complexity and high cost of a legacy MPLS/T1/T3 and firewall environment. ABHOW chose Cisco Meraki and deployed cloud-managed MX80 security appliances and licensing to replace legacy network-based firewalls and MPLS links.
Cisco Meraki implemented site-to-site VPNs between MX appliances, cloud-managed visibility into users, applications and throughput, and built‑in Layer 7 traffic shaping and content filtering, eliminating separate bandwidth and content tools. The Meraki solution reduced three‑year total costs from $947,268 (legacy) to $315,339, a 67% savings, while increasing usable bandwidth at HQ and branches and simplifying operations through a single web-based dashboard.
