A Cisco Meraki Case Study
Loyola School, an independent New York City college-prep high school with 200 students and 45 faculty, needed a reliable, easy-to-install, low-maintenance wireless network across three concrete-and-steel campus buildings. Director of Information Services James Richroath and the two-person in-house IT team evaluated Meru, Aruba, and Cisco Meraki and chose Cisco Meraki for its cloud-based architecture, pricing, and ease of use to meet budget and staffing constraints.
Cisco Meraki’s solution deployed 20 MR14 dual‑radio 802.11n indoor access points and 2 MR58 triple‑radio outdoor APs, with the school’s IT team completing 100% of installation and configuration. The cloud-managed Cisco Meraki system eliminated the need for costly WAP controllers, delivered reliable coverage with no outages, provided strong reporting tools, cost roughly one‑third of the nearest vendor, and enabled students and faculty to use laptops across campus as intended.
