Case Study: Ecole Lemania achieves reliable, secure, cloud-managed school-wide Wi‑Fi with Cisco Meraki

A Cisco Meraki Case Study

Preview of the Ecole Lemania Case Study

802.11n and 802.11ac APs, six 24 and 48 port switches, UTM security, set up in a day

Ecole Lemania, a multilingual school in Lausanne serving over 400 high‑school students (and roughly 900 adult learners yearly), faced a repeatedly failing and unreliable wireless network—crashing every few hours or days and unable to cope with thick-walled buildings and 400+ concurrent clients. IT Manager Leonard Jan evaluated options and selected Cisco Meraki’s cloud‑managed networking solution, including Meraki 802.11n/802.11ac access points, Meraki switches and a Meraki UTM security appliance, to address coverage, stability and management challenges.

Cisco Meraki deployed more than twenty APs, six 24‑ and 48‑port switches and a core UTM appliance; physical cabling took days but the device rollout was completed in a single day using Meraki’s automatic provisioning. The Meraki dashboard gives Jan centralized, single‑pane visibility and control (SSID/policy segmentation, Layer‑7 firewall, traffic shaping, content filtering, virtual switch stacking and alerts), and the network now reliably supports ~1,300 wireless clients transferring over 3 TB of data weekly — eliminating frequent outages, improving user experience, and simplifying management and security.
