A Cisco Meraki Case Study
Wayne Highlands School District, a rural K–12 district in Northeastern Pennsylvania, needed scalable, easy-to-manage connectivity to support a one-to-one learning initiative and reliable remote access for students without home internet. Their decade-old network and limited fiber made classroom coverage and centralized management difficult, so the district selected Cisco Meraki and its cloud‑managed stack (Wireless LAN MR, Switching MS, Security & SD‑WAN MX, and Mobility Device Management SM).
Cisco Meraki delivered a unified, cloud‑managed solution: 320 Meraki access points (one in every classroom), preconfigured core switches and security appliances in the Meraki dashboard, VoIP, and endpoint management—bringing the network online in about three months. The deployment provided high‑density coverage across the rural district, enabled the one‑to‑one and flipped‑learning programs, reduced onsite troubleshooting and travel for IT staff, and eliminated long‑distance phone costs so educators could focus on curriculum rather than connectivity.
