Enexis Netbeheer is a Dutch energy distribution system operator serving roughly one third of the country and responsible for supplying energy to about 2.8 million homes and businesses. Faced with an aging grid and the complexity of a shift to decentralized, renewable generation, the company needed a way to deploy and manage smart meters and distributed automation at scale to maintain reliability, balance supply and demand, and make more efficient use of existing infrastructure.

To meet that need Enexis deployed Cisco Jasper Control Center to manage the cellular SIMs in its connected devices—today covering about 900,000 smart meters and ~1,800 RTUs—and partnered with KPN for network services (including LTE‑M support). The platform automates alerts and large‑scale SIM activation, speeds troubleshooting, reduces physical site visits, and improves resource utilisation, enabling faster problem resolution and the scalability required to reach the full smart‑meter rollout.
