Virtual Desktops Bring Greater Efficiency and User Satisfaction to Machine Manufacturing Company

Mayfran International, a machine manufacturing company in Mayfield Village, Ohio, was running out of SAN resources and needed more compute and flexibility to support engineers’ graphics‑intensive work. After evaluating options, they selected Cisco HyperFlex — deploying HX240c M4 nodes with Cisco UCS S3260 and NVIDIA GRID — to refresh their infrastructure and enable a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) for applications like Autodesk Inventor.

Cisco HyperFlex delivered a hyperconverged VDI solution (running VMware vSphere and Horizon with NVIDIA acceleration) that let engineers open 3D models about 80% faster—dropping file open times from 15–20 minutes to roughly 4 minutes—while enabling background rendering, multitasking, faster customer demos and reduced reliance on physical PCs. The Cisco HyperFlex deployment measurably boosted productivity, user satisfaction and responsiveness to customer needs.
