Retailer Benefits by Providing Virtual Care to Uninsured and Unenrolled Workers

A large national retailer faced the challenge of supporting a workforce that included many uninsured and unenrolled employees during the pandemic, when access to care, employee satisfaction, retention, and productivity were under pressure. The company turned to CirrusMD’s virtual care service to give workers easier access to medical support regardless of insurance status.

CirrusMD provided on-demand virtual care for the retailer’s entire workforce, including about 290,000 unenrolled employees, with access to primary, urgent, specialty, preventive, and behavioral health care by text. The program produced 43,000 healthcare encounters in the first year, 78% from unenrolled workers, and delivered $1.064 million in productivity savings with an ROI of 1.3:1. The retailer also reported nearly 40% fewer emergency room diversions, 92% of workers said access to CirrusMD improved their experience with the employer, and 93% said they would use it again.
