Inductive Automation, a provider of the industry-leading Ignition SCADA/HMI platform, sought to bridge the gap between operational technology (OT) data and information technology (IT) systems to enable machine learning and predictive maintenance for its clients. Their challenge was to securely connect vast amounts of industrial data from the plant floor to advanced cloud-based analytics without requiring extensive manual configuration or code.

Using the Cirrus Link MQTT Transmission Module with Ignition, the solution securely published OT data to AWS Greengrass Core. This provided a self-discoverable data stream including metadata and time stamps, eliminating thousands of hours of manual configuration. The implementation by Cirrus Link enabled clients to perform low-latency machine learning inference locally on edge devices, minimizing cloud data transfer costs and increasing system response times for real-time analytics.
