Richard House is London’s first children’s hospice, providing 24-hour specialist care and holistic services to over 300 families, supported by 75 staff and about 130 volunteers. The HR team was hampered by paper filing cabinets, spreadsheets and manual payroll processes across a dispersed workforce (including six retail shops), creating compliance and efficiency challenges that the COVID‑19 pandemic made urgent to resolve.
They implemented CIPHR HR (with CIPHR outsourced payroll planned) to replace manual processes with a configurable, user‑friendly system and expert-managed implementation. The change delivered better employee experience, faster, more accurate payroll and absence management, secure centralised records for GDPR and safeguarding, and freed HR to focus on higher‑value work such as appraisals and workforce planning.
