Isabel Hospice is a 30‑year‑old charity providing palliative care across Eastern Hertfordshire, with around 200 staff, 1,000 volunteers and annual fundraising of about £4.5m. HR faced major complexity and fragmentation — 120 different work patterns, multiple pay rates and data spread across spreadsheets and an unreliable system — so the organisation needed a cost‑sensitive, reliable solution to centralise data and enable HR to move from reactive administration to strategic support.
Isabel implemented CIPHR as a SaaS solution, consolidating records, configuring the system to handle complex work patterns and volunteer skills, and rolling out self‑service, notifications and reporting. The result was accurate, board‑level management information, faster manager access to timely data, fewer HR enquiries, better volunteer management and ongoing support and training — outcomes the hospice says have freed HR for more strategic work and delivered clear operational benefits.
