Crisis is the UK national charity for people experiencing homelessness; its HR operations team of nine supports over 600 employees and volunteers. Rapid growth (a 92% headcount increase in four years), manual, time-consuming processes (annual leave calculations once took 2.5 months), the need for accurate compliance data, and a sudden shift to remote working exposed limits in systems, reporting and integrations.
Working closely with CIPHR, Crisis optimised its HR system, created a customised annual-leave report that cut processing from 2.5 months to 2.5 hours, and implemented an API link to its Kallidus L&D platform so mandatory training and records sync automatically. The solution delivered reliable remote access for payroll, faster, evidence-based reporting for managers, and a scalable platform for future integrations and a three-year HR systems strategy.
