Cotswold Archaeology, the UK's fourth-largest archaeological unit with over 200 staff across four southern England offices, had outgrown a Sage HR database that relied on paper forms and offered limited reporting. With staff working in the field and cost a key concern, the HR team needed an affordable, user-friendly system that provided employee self-service, better reporting, and more efficient people‑data management for GDPR compliance.

They implemented CIPHR, which was straightforward to roll out and quickly gave employees the ability to update personal details and submit leave requests online while giving managers real‑time visibility of holidays. HR now produces flexible reports on absence, probations and appraisals, has reduced manual admin, and cites CIPHR as easy to use and good value — with plans to adopt more modules in future.
