Busy Bees Nurseries is one of the UK’s largest childcare groups, with around 9,000 UK staff across 370 sites and more than 50,000 children globally. Rapid growth exposed limitations in its legacy HR system: incomplete and inaccurate data, clunky payroll handovers, poor device access for a largely non-desk workforce, and difficulty performing basic tasks like booking holidays or viewing payslips. The HR team needed a user-friendly, brandable platform that would improve reporting, communication and payroll integration.
Busy Bees implemented CIPHR (branded internally as “Waggle”), supported by a focused data cleanse, migration and dedicated project team. CIPHR delivered mobile access, onboarding, e-signature and payroll link capabilities, better role-based security and richer people analytics. The result: streamlined admin, faster onboarding, clearer compliance tracking, improved manager self-service and reporting, and freed HR to focus on strategic work — with positive user feedback and potential for wider international rollout.
