Tech Focussed Approach Streamlines Hotel Operations

East Hotel, a contemporary apartment hotel in Canberra owned by the Bisa Property Group, faced limited transparency and visibility of its operational data, making it difficult to optimise thermal comfort, ventilation and temperature control—challenges amplified during COVID-19 when occupancy dropped and staff were reduced. To address this, East Hotel engaged CIM and adopted CIM’s PEAK Platform to bring data-driven building analytics and clearer operational control to onsite teams.

CIM implemented the PEAK Platform with bespoke engineering innovations—Economy Mode Operations, Zone Setpoint Limitations and an Occupancy Insights Tracker—to deliver near-real-time actionable insights, automate controls and improve stakeholder workflows. As a result, CIM enabled monitoring of 2,817 points, deployment of 1,888 rules across 240 major pieces of equipment and delivered hard savings since 2017 of 317 MWh electricity (an 18.5% reduction) and 1,422.40 GJ gas (a 17% reduction), alongside improved fault resolution, collaboration and smarter capital planning.
