Case Study: Melbourne Museum preserves delicate collections and reduces energy use with CIM's PEAK Platform

A CIM Case Study

Preview of the Melbourne Museum Case Study

Preserving history through a modern approach to building management

Melbourne Museum, part of the Museums Victoria portfolio, needed to protect millions of sensitive collection items while improving operational visibility, collaborative workflows, maintenance efficiency and reducing energy use across four sites totalling 95,600 m2. To address zone-by-zone temperature and humidity control challenges and the lack of transparent data, they engaged CIM and its PEAK Platform as their building analytics and technology partner.

CIM implemented the PEAK Platform (including a custom humidity tracker and automated PEAK Actions workflows) to deliver near‑real‑time analytics, fault detection, asset monitoring and collaborative tasking—supporting remote operation during COVID‑19. The solution increased transparency and productivity, reduced contractor call‑outs and optimised HVAC performance; across the Museums Victoria portfolio CIM’s work monitors 5,864 data points and 621 major assets and has delivered 19.3 GWh in electricity savings as of July 2021.
