Critical peak demand management with data analytics

QIC Global Real Estate engaged CIM to reduce critical peak demand at its Eastland shopping centre in response to AusNet’s GoodGrid CPD alerts. The challenge was to cut electricity use on the five nominated extreme-heat days that drive a large portion of the centre’s annual bill while ensuring tenant thermal comfort and avoiding extra operational costs; CIM addressed this using its building analytics platform PEAK.

CIM used PEAK to analyse live and historical energy and equipment data, recommended and programmed BMS schedule changes, and adjusted HVAC, lighting and vertical transport during CPD hours via a cross‑functional team. The result was a 15.4% overall year‑on‑year reduction across the five CPD days, a 23.52% reduction in mechanical power, zero additional OPEX and no compromise to tenant comfort, with performance tracked in real time on the PEAK dashboard.
