smartLOCK approached Ciklum with a vision for a consumer smart lock that could show real-time pictures of visitors, log lock activity, support temporary access, and work with smartphones and programmable fobs. The company had already tried to build the product with an in-house engineering team, but it was struggling to move the proof of concept into a feature-complete, production-ready device.

Ciklum re-architected the system and became the ad-hoc engineering team, expanding to 12 engineers over 8 months to own the software from security architecture to embedded software and custom cloud development. Ciklum’s work helped smartLOCK accelerate the timeline, reduce project risk, and deliver a robust product with the required mobile apps, cloud back end, and connected lock features, earning recognition for Product Innovation at the CES Innovation Awards 2015.
