A Ciklum Case Study
Neopenda, a Chicago-based healthtech social enterprise, set out to improve newborn health outcomes in low-resource settings by building a simple, affordable, low-power wearable device that could measure and display four vital signs. To move quickly without sacrificing quality, the startup worked with Ciklum’s R&D Engineering team on biomedical IoT development and digital signal processing.
Ciklum developed the wearable’s system architecture, algorithms, firmware, hardware, and software platform, including real-time visualization and Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity. In three months, Ciklum delivered a pilot biomedical IoT solution on budget and within the agreed timeframe, with continuous monitoring, warning signals for caregivers, and wireless data transmission for use in challenging low-resource hospitals.
