Zayo launches 3,500 km German network with Ciena

Zayo Europe, a leading network infrastructure provider, needed to build a new high-capacity network across Germany to support rising data demands from AI adoption and cloud usage. To address this challenge, Zayo partnered with Ciena to deploy its optical technology, including the WaveLogic 6 Extreme transceiver and the 6500 Reconfigurable Line System.

By implementing Ciena's solutions, Zayo Europe launched a new 3,500 km network covering 10 German metros and a hub in France. The deployment allows Zayo to immediately offer universal 400G wave services with the capability to scale to 800G and 1.6Tb/s in the future. Ciena's technology provided significant economic benefits, including a 50% reduction in space and power per bit, enabling Zayo to offer its customers ultra-low latency connectivity and unparalleled support for AI and cloud services.
