Telefónica Deutschland lowers OPEX and automates multivendor 5G transport with Ciena
Telefónica Deutschland sought to move to an open, automated network to meet future 5G demands, reduce costs, and avoid vendor lock-in. To address this challenge, they selected software from Ciena's Blue Planet division, specifically its Multi-Domain Service Orchestration (MDSO) platform.
Ciena's solution provided Telefónica Deutschland with the software to execute its SDN program, enabling multi-vendor transport and network automation. This allowed the operator to rapidly create and automate end-to-end services, which simplified operations, lowered OPEX, and optimized its network for next-generation 5G services. The successful deployment was recognized with an industry award for automation.
