Summit Broadband launches 400Gb/s waves service with Ciena

Summit Broadband, a Florida-based fiber-optics telecommunications provider, faced rising bandwidth demands from enterprise customers due to the proliferation of high-bandwidth applications like cloud computing and video streaming. To address this challenge, the provider partnered with Ciena to launch a new 400Gb/s wavelength service using Ciena's WaveLogic 5 Extreme technology.

By implementing Ciena's WaveLogic 5 Extreme, Summit Broadband was able to deliver more data per unit of energy over its existing infrastructure, maximizing network utilization and providing capital and operational savings. The Ciena solution also allowed Summit to push 400Gb/s over longer distances without additional equipment and to easily scale to meet future customer needs, all while reducing its carbon footprint. The network is managed via Ciena’s Navigator Network Control Suite for end-to-end visibility.
