SingAREN transmits 2 petabytes of genomic data with Ciena

Singapore Advanced Research and Education Network (SingAREN) supports Singapore's research and innovation ecosystem and needed a robust network to handle the massive data demands of advanced applications like AI, genomics, and big data. To support these growing needs, SingAREN required a flexible, low-latency optical network solution and partnered with vendor Ciena.

Ciena implemented its 6500 optical solution powered by WaveLogic technology. This provided SingAREN with a high-speed, scalable network capable of seamlessly delivering connections from 10G to 100G to its member institutions. The solution enabled the transmission of petabytes of data, successfully supporting projects like the transfer of over 2 petabytes of cancer genomics data for research and facilitating real-time collaborations such as robotic telesurgery trials.
